"Gas Giant," a massive, space-altering installation at MOCA Pacific Design Center, is inspired by the "sense of purpose" of sacred architecture and influenced by the "possibility" offered by a 1990s generation of California landscape painters including Laura Owens.

Over 25 days, Hashimoto worked with a MOCA installation crew to suspend 30,000 paper kites of differing shape and color from the gallery ceiling. MOCAtv captured the process, spanning the first day of installation to the opening night celebration, and finally the 3 days of deinstallation of the exhibition.
