A Lowercase sky

Burlington City Arts, Vermont

Combining traditional kite and design-making techniques, printmaking, and collage, Hashimoto creates immersive installations from thousands of suspended, hand-made disks of bamboo and elaborately patterned paper. Building and layering his materials within the architecture of the space, the artist composes a spectacular visual landscape.

For Hashimoto’s exhibition at BCA, the artist transforms the front of the gallery with an immersive, site-specific installation that responds to the unique architecture of the space. The installation is accompanied by several of his more intimately scaled prints and wall compositions. Through the dramatic shift between size and scale, Hashimoto invites the viewer to explore the imaginative possibilities of creativity and wonder.

BCA's summer exhibitions are supported in part by the Maslow Family Foundation and Todd Lockwood. Hospitality sponsor, Lake Champlain Chocolates. Burlington City Arts is supported in part by the Vermont Arts Council & the National Endowment for the Arts.
